JOHANNESBURG - The fraud and corruption case against former African National Congress (ANC)’s spokesperson Pule Mabe has been postponed to 17 June 2025.
Mabe alongside six co-accused made their second appearance before the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.
The charges are in connection with a R27 million tender allegedly awarded improperly to the former ANC member of Parliament’s company, Enviro Mobi in 2017.
The postponement is due to a change in legal representation for some of the accused.
“As the state, we will be studying the applications for accused one and five for further particulars. Accused three also applied for further disclosure. So, by the time we return to court on the 17th, we would have finalised all those processes so that we can move forward.”
MABE ENLISTS MAJAVU
Mabe has now enlisted the legal services of lawyer Zola Majavu in his fraud and corruption case.
They’ve brought on Majavu as they look towards him to prove to the court that they did no wrong when Mabe’s company was awarded the tender.
Majavu recently represented Mabe’s predecessor, Zizi Kodwa, and managed to have similar charges of fraud and corruption against him withdrawn.
However, National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Phindi Mjononodwane said they’re not threatened.
“Every case is treated according to its own merit. We are ceased with this case with its own evidential material.”
Majavu will have three months to familiarise himself with the case before Mabe’s next court appearance.
