Kelly Smith's attorney, Rinesh Sivnarain, started his cross-examination of Lombaard by asking the witness about their friendship.
Sivnarain told Lombaard that Smith regarded her as a close friend and would often share food and money with her and her two children.
Lombaard admitted she used drugs with Smith and would visit her shack in Middelpos daily.
When questioned about why Smith was sometimes rude to her, Lombaard told the court Smith suspected she was having an affair with her boyfriend, Jacquen Appollis.
Sivnarain was about to starting questioning Lombaard about the statement she gave police after her arrest in March last year, when she requested an adjourment, saying her head was spinning.
Judge Nathan Erasmus adjourned the matter, saying it was not the first time the witness became unwell when it was crunch time.
