CAPE TOWN - A 22-year-old suspect linked to the killing of a police officer in Mfuleni in Cape Town will appear in court again next week Thursday.
Blessing Ndibongo appeared at the Blue Downs Magistrates Court on Monday on a murder charge.
This follows his arrest at Pollsmoor Prison last week Thursday.
Constable Ayanda Moyikwa, who was stationed at Airport Border Police, was en route to fetch a colleague in Mfuleni when he witnessed a robbery.
After stopping his car, gunmen approached and shot him in the head and robbed him of his cellphone.
"During the robbery, a member of the public was assaulted and robbed of his cell phone and R100 cash. The suspects were described as two unknown African males," said Hawks spokesperson, Zinzi Hani.
