CAPE TOWN - Several committees of the National Assembly are out in the different provinces this week to conduct oversight inspections, including at entities such as Eskom.
The portfolio and standing committees will also see members inspecting municipalities in provinces like the Eastern Cape and the Free State, as Members of Parliament (MPs) from all parties try to witness government's performance across the country firsthand.
MPs from the National Assembly will spend this week away from the chamber and mostly in communities and state entities to monitor service delivery.
The oversight visits will happen across provinces from the crime-ridden Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, to power grid inspections in Mpumalanga and Gauteng.

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA), meanwhile, heads to Buffalo City Metro and Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape to inspect municipal entities and also engage communities.
The Portfolio Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure also heads to the Eastern Cape to ensure things are functioning properly at developments and at entities in both Port St John's and Lusikisiki.
