SALDANHA BAY - A defence attorney in the Joshlin Smith trial is questioning the state's main witness today about her version of events on the day the child went missing.

The cross-examination of former accused turned State witness, Lourentia Lombaard, continued today with the defence trying to discredit her testimony.

Lombaard has implicated Joshlin's mother, Kelly Smith, Jacquen Appollis  (her boyfriend) and his friend Stevano van Rhyn for being complicit in Smith's alleged plan to sell the little girl.

On Monday, defence attorney Fanie Harmse, who represents Appollis,  told the court his client knew nothing of Kelly Smith's alleged plan to sell Joshlin to a sangoma for R20,000.

Harmse questioned Lombaard about her version of the event on the day Joshlin went missing.

Lombaard says on that morning, she witnessed Smith tell Joshlin she was going to pack a bag for her before the child responded: "Why mommy, where am I going?"

Harmse asked Lombaard why she neglected to mention the conversation in the confession she made when she turned the State’s witness in October last year.

Lombaard told the court she doesn't have an answer.
