JOHANNESBURG- Johannesburg child pornography accused, Darren Wilken, has opted for legal aid assistance.
Wilken and his girlfriend, Tiona Megan Moodley, briefly appeared in the Randburg Magistrate's court on Monday morning.
BDK Attorney’s, who previously represented Wilken said that they were instructed to terminate their mandate.
They stand accused of operating a global child pornography network, which saw the FBI track Wilken down and report him to the South African Police Service (SAPS).
Police raided and arrested Wilken at his Midrand apartment in January.
Addressing the court Wilken said that he was instructed to apply for legal aid.
"My mother said next time I go to court I should look at applying for legal representation, legal aid."
The court previously heard how the pair, who have been denied bail, made millions through their distribution of child pornography worldwide.
