Man arrested for arson attack in Limpopo expected in court

JOHANNESBURG - A man arrested in connection with an arson attack in Limpopo is expected to appear at the Giyani Magistrates Court on Monday.
He faces charges of arson, malicious damage to property, and violation of a protection order.
On Friday, he set alight his ex-girlfriend's shack.
It is understood the woman was inside her home when she heard him threaten to burn it down.
She then allegedly saw the suspect holding a container with petrol and a box of matches and fled.
Police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba said her property was completely destroyed in the fire.
"The provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe, has strongly condemned all acts of gender-based violence and urged community members experiencing threats or abuse to seek assistance without delay.
"The suspect is expected to appear before Giyani Magistrates Court on Monday, the 24th of March 2025, facing charges of arson, malicious damage to property, and violation of a protection order."
