JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police, together with a private security company, have launched a manhunt for suspects involved in the killing of four community patrollers in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria.

On Saturday, police found four bodies, partially burned, with gunshot wounds at the Marry Me informal settlement.

It is understood the patrollers noticed a group of men gathered on the street, and when they approached them, a fight broke out.

Eight others were injured in the incident and taken to hospital.

The recent surge in violence, particularly in informal settlements, has raised concerns about the safety and security of residents.

Saam Sokolo Security has condemned the targeting of patrollers and community workers, who are essential to maintaining law and order in these areas.

It said it had deployed all necessary resources to the Marry Me informal settlement, where the incident took place.

Police are still investigating the motive of the attack, while the community remains on high alert, awaiting justice for the slain patrollers.

The public is being urged to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
