JOHANNESBURG - Civic movement, the Joburg Crisis Alliance, said that the City of Johannesburg needs ethical leadership to make progress in providing service delivery.
Speaking during a solutions session hosted by Jozi My Jozi at Constitution Hill on Saturday, the group's Yunus Chamda said leaders needed to be competent and have the correct qualifications.
Chamda said the board structure also needed to be reviewed and must take accountability when things go wrong.
"The first area that needs immediate attention is that the position of the city manager has been advertised, and the city cannot get it wrong and get the wrong individual for that position. That’s the first thing under ethical leadership."
