Police confirm 4 people killed in Soshanguve were community patrol members

JOHANNESBURG - Police have confirmed that the four people killed in Soshanguve, Pretoria, on Saturday morning were members of the community patrollers.
Police found their bodies partially burned and with gunshot wounds at the Marry Me informal settlement.

It is understood the patrollers noticed a group of men on the street, and when they approached them, a quarrel ensued, resulting in the deaths of four people.
Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili said no arrests have been made.
"Early this morning, at around 6, police in Soshanguve responded to a crime scene at Marry Me informal settlement Extension 3. At about 3 am, a group of community-based patrollers were converging to continue with their patrols when they noticed five people on the street. When the group approached the five, a quarrel broke out, which ended with four dead and eight injured. The motive for the attack will be determined by investigations."
