CAPE TOWN - The Minibus Taxi Task Team has said that it remains committed to working through challenges faced by the minibus taxi industry.
The task team, which was formed in 2023 following a violent taxi strike, met for the first time this year to discuss key issues affecting the industry.
The meeting comes in the wake of clashes between Cape Town traffic officers and taxi drivers across the city in recent weeks.
Minibus taxi task team member and the Metro's MMC for Mobility, Rob Quintas said they're looking forward to further engagements in the months ahead.
"The Minibus Taxi Task Team is a crucial platform for open and honest discussions between government and the taxi industry. While we do not always see eye to eye, this engagement allows us to find common ground and work towards solutions that improve the safety and efficiency of the sector," said Quintas
