JOHANNESBURG - With the deadline to migrate from the Sassa gold card to the Postbank black card having come and gone some beneficiaries opted to turn to an option called 'easy pay'.

On Thursday hundreds of recipients braved the scorching sun in Katlehong to try and meet the deadline for swopping their old Sassa gold cards to the new Postbank black cards.

The Sassa gold cards officially stopped working on Thursday at midnight.

Recipients will now receive their grant payments using the new Postbank cards however the process of migrating still continues at all sites until all beneficiaries have made the switch.

At the Katlehong shopping centre, one beneficiary Michele Mbatha who was back at the site after being turned back without the new black card multiple times told EWN she is now opting for the 'Easy-pay' option.

"We have decided that its better we do the easy-pay option because here they only take five people at a time. When will they finish processing if they only take 5 people. For the easy pay process - they only asked for your id copy, there's a Sassa form officials fill that you take to Sassa to get the new black card," said Mbatha.
