JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance commemorated Human Rights Day by campaigning against the water crisis in Johannesburg.

The party was in Claremont on Friday commemorating the day where 69 people died in protest against the pass laws.

DA’s federal chairperson Helen Zille said attention should be drawn to the violations of human rights wherever they happen.

The DA stressed the importance of maintenance of water infrastructure for people to be able to receive water as it is their human right.

“Rain has been very plentiful in Johannesburg. The heavens have opened up, the dams are full but the Johannesburg city council can't get clean water into reservoirs, into the piping system to its residents. That's why we're here in Claremont,” Zille said.
