JOHANNEBSURG - City power has admitted that infrastructure is aging in two of its sub-stations in Rabie Ridge north Johannesburg.

The entity's spokesperson Isaac Mangena said they repair the infrastructure as it breaks and are unable to completely replace it because of financial constraints.

The residents took to the streets on Thursday blocking roads in protest of recurring power outages.

The residents said that they had to content with a two-week outage while City Power dispelled these allegations.

City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said, "every time there is a fault on a cable, we kept on joining it, so there were too many joints to an extent that often when there is any problem like with the rain, the weakest part will be affected and then it will trip".
