JOHANNESURG - All Sassa card replacement sites will be open to continue issuing new Postbank cards on Friday.
On Thursday, beneficiaries came out in numbers to try to meet the deadline for swopping their old Sassa gold cards to the new Postbank black cards.
The card issuance was abruptly halted following a nationwide network failure with Postbank's system that added major setbacks to the process that was already behind schedule.
Officials at one of the service centres in Katlehong, east of Joburg said the site will be open on Friday to help some recipients with the migration despite it being a public holiday.
Postbank spokesperson Bongani Diako said: "all our card replacement sites will be open for beneficiaries to go collect their black cards. The sites will be operating until we give every grant beneficiary a black card".
