CAPE TOWN - Social grant beneficiaries queuing for their South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) cards migration in Eerste River, Cape Town, have complained of poor service at the site.

Thursday is the deadline for grant recipients to swap from SASSA gold cards to the Postbank black cards.

Postbank says it will continue issuing the new Postbank cards until the end of June at selected Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, PicknPay, Boxer and Spar stores.

With just hours before the SASSA gold cards officially stop working, Mamello Giqi has toldĀ Eyewitness News she's not happy about the whole process.

"I don't understand why we have to change cards. I don't understand why there are only two people working for SASSA for more than 200 people."

Giqi said she's been in the line since the early hours of Thursday morning, but the whole process has been slowed by the limited number of service points.

"Khayelitsha is not working, Mfuleni is not working. So, this system is not working for us poor people because we have to stand here under the hot sun and wait for them."

Recipients who don't have their new black cards will be able to access their grants using their ID at Post Office branches.
