CAPE TOWN - Some social grant beneficiaries have expressed frustration about migrating from South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) gold cards to the new Postbank black cards.
The deadline for the card swap has finally arrived.
This means from Friday, beneficiaries will not be able to use their old cards to buy or withdraw money inside stores.
However, the Postbank says it will continue with the card swap until the end of June this year at selected Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, Boxer and Spar stores.
More than 200 social grant beneficiaries have started to form a snaking queue outside one of the selected retail stores in Eerste River.
Seventy-year-old Eric Croy has told Eyewitness News that he's not happy queuing for the second consecutive day without assistance.
"I've been queuing here since 05h45 today [Thursday] and I was here at 05h45 yesterday [Wednesday] as well. When I was number 50 in the row, they closed the door at 4pm. That's absolutely nonsense."
The Postbank has confirmed migrating more than one million beneficiaries, with another one million still needing to switch.
