Malusi Booi, 28 co-accused tender fraud case back in court
They're linked to a billion-rand housing tender fraud case within the City of Cape Town's Human Settlements Directorate during Booi's tenure as MMC.
CAPE TOWN - Former Cape Town Human Settlements MMC and Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor, Malusi Booi and 28 others, including alleged 28's gang boss Ralph Stanfield and his wife Nicole Johnson, are back at the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Thursday.
They're linked to a billion-rand housing tender fraud case within the City of Cape Town's Human Settlements Directorate during Booi's tenure as MMC.
Stanfield's younger brother, Kyle, and his mother-in-law, Barbara Johnson, have also been added to the indictment on a charge of defeating the ends of justice.
They're facing more than 50 charges, including murder, fraud, and money laundering, among others.

The last time the case came before Magistrate Alida Theart in January, the prosecution team was criticised for dragging its feet investigating the matter, two years since Booi's office was raided on corruption suspicions.
It's also a year and a half since Stanfield and Johnson were arrested.
At the time, the State told the court that it needed time to analyse more than 100 bank statements, and other documents still needed to be downloaded from several devices.
The court said it would launch an inquiry into the State's case should it not finish its investigation when the case is called on Thursday.
