Frustrated CT grant recipient bemoans money spent on having to do swap to Postbank black card
There are still a few hours left until the deadline for grant recipients to make the swap from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) gold card to the Postbank black card, but many won’t make the deadline.

CAPE TOWN - There are still a few hours left until the deadline for grant recipients to make the swap from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) gold card to the Postbank black card, but many won’t make the deadline.
Card swapping sites in Cape Town have seen long queues with people waiting to get the new card, while others are opting for payment directly to a bank account.

One grant recipient that spoke to Eyewitness News on condition of anonymity, said she had used up almost her entire disability grant on travelling to and from the site in Athlone to do the card swap.
"You give out money R200 for somebody to drop you at one o'clock, two o'clock you still come here, then the next week the same thing is going to happen. You give out R200 for somebody to drop you, then they’re still not going to help you, it’s wrong. I'm getting disability, and at the end of the day, I'm going to spend my whole disability grant here, then I can’t even buy food."
