JOHANNESBURG - Corruption-accused businessman Edwin Sodi has dismissed the attempted murder case against him as nonsense allegations that should not have made it to court.

Sodi's matter was struck off the roll on Thursday after both the complainants withdrew.

The matter dates back to 2022 when Sodi allegedly tried to shoot his wife and a male friend at their Bryanston home.

Sodi has entered a settlement agreement with both the complainants, leaving the State with no other witnesses.

He said he was relieved to have this attempted murder matter which has been hanging over his head for three years finally closed.

"Those were nonsense allegations and eventually we can see that they were never going to stick."

Looking carefree and rather confident, the controversial businessman told the media that he had other matters to focus on.

"I've got business to run, I've got serious matters to deal with, so this is done."

Sodi is no stranger to courts and investigations.

His corruption case over a R255 million asbestos removal tender continues in the Free State High Court.

His is also being probed for the dodgy R291 million Rooiwal plant upgrade which left Hammanskraal residents without drinkable water for years.
