JOHANNESBURG - The attempted murder trial against controversial businessman Edwin Sodi is expected to start on Thursday morning.
Sodi is accused of trying to murder his estranged wife in their Bryanston home in 2022.
He was released on R150,000 bail.
Apart from being released on R500,000 bail for his corruption case in the Free State High Court, where he stands accused alongside former African National Congress (ANC) secretary general Ace Magashule, Sodi is also out on bail for a domestic violence matter.
Sodi faces charges of attempted murder, assault to cause grievous bodily harm, and pointing a firearm.
It is alleged he attacked his estranged wife, Nthateng Lerata, and a friend in their Bryanston home.
As the State opens its case on Thursday, its first witness is expected to take the stand.
