Four killed in suspected taxi violence shooting in Johannesburg

JOHANNESBURG - Four people have been killed in Doornfontein, Johannesburg, in a suspected taxi violence shooting.
Police say a group of armed men indiscriminately opened fire at a taxi rank and shot seven people on Thursday morning.
Three others were injured and taken to hospital following the attack.
“It is reported that a group of armed men came to a taxi rank in Doornfontein in Jeppe policing precinct and started shooting randomly. Four people were declared on the scene while three were taken to hospital with injuries.
“One of the injured is a university student who was waiting for a bus. The matter will be investigated by the provincial taxi violence unit,” said the South African Police Service’s spokesperson in Gauteng, Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi.
No arrests have been made.
