CAPE TOWN - The South African Weather Service has warned of extremely hot and uncomfortable conditions for the Western Cape, as temperatures are expected to reach the high 30s and low 40s on Wednesday.
Residents and visitors are urged to take necessary precautions to protect themselves.
Weather Forecaster Joew Malebane says such weather conditions can have significant health scares.
"In order to protect yourself you may stay in cool places and try to keep yourself hydrated and also try to wear some light clothing."
She adds that veld fires can also be expected on the West Coast, Cape Winelands, Central Karoo, Overberg, and the Garden Route districts.
"The hot temperatures along with dry conditions and strong winds can actually lead in the development of veld and bush fires, so please take necessary precautions to protect yourself and those around you."
