CAPE TOWN - KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested a man dubbed the "serial hijacker" in Emanguzini.

Police also seized a stolen truck and two trailers.

The 41-year-old Mozambican national is allegedly a serial offender linked to several vehicle theft and hijacking cases.

Police said the man was previously arrested and convicted in five separate cases in Gauteng and Mpumalanga.

Police spokesperson, Amanda van Wyk, said the truck the man was driving was found with false number plates from a neighbouring country.

"Further investigation revealed the truck is positively linked to a truck hijacking case, reported to SAPS Nigel in March 2025. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was out on bail on two other cases for similar crimes committed in Alberton and Bedfordview respectively, that include possession of presumed stolen vehicle and truck hijacking."
