JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) say they are on high alert following a warning from the South African Weather Service of heavy downpours in Gauteng.

Motorists are being urged to steer clear of flooded roads and bridges.

EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said there had been no major incidents reported overnight.

“Avoid crossing roads and low laying bridges which might be flooded. Our residents in our low-lying areas to continue to avoid crossing river streams while conducting their daily activities. From our side as the City of Johannesburg we continue to be on high alert.”
