CAPE TOWN - The Cape Town carnival was in full swing in the city's CBD on Saturday afternoon, marking the 15th instalment of the vibrant technicolour spectacle.

This year’s event showcases an array of floats, costumes, performers, and stunning artworks.

Organisers and vendors have put the final touches on the stage and stalls in front of the green point traffic offices.

Local police officers are patrolling the streets as various roads have been closed for the celebrations.

Spectators are arriving in droves, with local acts already performing for a crowd that is steadily growing.

The carnival parade is scheduled to kick off at 6 pm, followed by DJs starting their sets at 9 pm, alongside other musical performers, including YoungstaCPT.

Described as a celebration of the city's culture and authenticity, the carnival promises to be a memorable event for all.
