JOHANNESBURG - Two male suspects arrested in connection with the rape of four female students at a TVET college in Limpopo are set to appear in the Kgapane Magistrates Court on Friday.
The accused were arrested earlier this week, after police recovered the victims' stolen cellphones.
Police confirmed that the students positively identified their phones.
The suspects reportedly stormed a student residence at a college in Phaphadi Village in February. One of the suspects was reportedly armed when he forced a group of eight girls to strip.
He allegedly raped four of the victims.
Police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba said he fled the scene on foot after stealing their cellphones.
“The suspects were arrested following a joint operation executed by Mopani tracking team and Tzaneen family violence, children protection and sexual offences unit.”
Police said they found two suspects in possession of stolen property.
