JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has doubled down on attempts to clean up local government as infrastructure crumbles and public trust is eroded.

This follows Ramaphosa’s frustrations about poor service delivery across the country.

Last week, the President took exception to the state of Johannesburg, taking the city’s Mayor Dada Morero to task.

He has since called on other municipalities to put service delivery at the fore, especially at the hubs where global leaders will meet for the G20.

Ramaphosa met with several ministers, deputy ministers, Premiers and MECs in Cape Town on Friday.

"We would like to see all of us committing to work and moving away from isolation and saying 'we can do this on our own, ' which leads to fragmentism, which leads to us not being able to tackle complex problems."
