During a media briefing on its state of affairs on Thursday, officials said they are in talks with external funders.
City Power said it will now take an aggressive approach to repairing infrastructure, something it neglected to do in the past.
The entity said it has several programmes to achieve this goal, including asset renewal, predictive, preventative and corrective maintenance.
The utility’s group executive, Charles Tlouane, said this includes using intelligence strategies to thwart attacks on its infrastructure.
He added that the funding would fast-track repair plans.
“The funding amount will be confirmed in due course. As things stand now, I wouldn’t say this is the amount, but we are guaranteed that for every year or every mid-term, there will be adjustment budgets, and we will move with what the city is giving us.”
He said adding power cuts while waiting for funding will assist the process.
