JOHANNESBURG - Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has promised aggrieved community members that there will be a change for the better at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court.
Kubayi and her deputy, Andries Nel, visited the court amid allegations of corruption and maladministration.
The officials conducted a walkabout, asking staff about their work when members of the public stopped her.
"This court has sent me to the psychologists, not the man that I am fighting. This court. What did they tell me? I must wear short skirts, cut my hair and find a rich man, I don’t have to keep coming to court – that’s what we get told. But they don’t understand the trauma - one it's domestic violence. Two, you are trying to get a divorce."
Kubayi has promised an intervention, saying the conduct of some officials at the court was a violation of the Constitution.
