JOHANNESBURG - In less than a week, Gauteng police have uncovered two illegal manufacturing plants in Westonaria, on the West Rand.
Last week, police made a R10 million drug bust in the area after uncovering mandrax and drug-manufacturing machinery on a plot.
On Thursday morning, police again swooped in on the area, uncovering an illegal alcohol manufacturing facility worth approximately R1 million.
Gauteng police commissioner, Tommy Mthombeni, said they were concerned about the activities occurring in Westonaria.
"What is worrying is that in Westonaria, it looks like everything is occurring here. You will recall, last week Thursday, we had a drug bust, that drug lab for R10 million. We are concerned about Westonaria, because here we are today for this illegal manufacturing plant for whiskey."
