Taxis block several roads in Soweto

JOHANNESBURG - Soweto taxi operators have blocked the roads between Orlando West and Mfulo on Monday.
It is understood this is due to the ongoing issue of routes between two associations in the area.
Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson Xolani Fihla has urged motorists to use alternative routes.
Fihla said some JMPD officers were hurt in a crash en route to the scene.

"Orlando Wet...the intersection of Klipspruit Valley, Khumalo Road, and Sofasonke Street is being blocked off to traffic and this is causing heavy delays in the area as motorists divert from these closures. Expect delays on Xorile Street, and Martha Louw Street. Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers are present at both locations. Motorists are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution."
"A fatal accident has also been reported in the same area, involving five individuals. This is including two JMPD officers, one sustaining serious injuries and one fatality has been reported and two other individuals sustaining injuries."
