CAPE TOWN - The search for a missing fisherman from Struisbaai continues.

The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) said the fisherman, originally from the Eastern Cape and who was living and working in Stuisbaai, boarded a local charter fishing boat early on Saturday morning.

Following reports that he had gone missing, the NSRI Agulhas duty crew were activated.

Spokesperson for the NSRI, Craig Lambinon, said it's suspected that the fisherman went overboard.

"There remain no signs of a local 31-year-old male fisherman who went missing from a local charter fishing boat offshore of Struisbaai on Saturday. NSRI are appealing to the local maritime community to keep a sharp lookout."
