JOHANNESBURG - Psychosocial support units have been dispatched to two Gauteng primary schools following the deaths of four learners in a horror crash in Ekurhuleni on Monday morning.

The victims were killed in a multiple-vehicle collision on the N12, near the Putfontein Road off-ramp in Daveyton.

They have all been identified as boys by the Gauteng Education Department, two of whom were brothers.

A Grade 3 girl is currently in hospital after sustaining critical injuries in the incident.

"One of the vehicles, which was involved in this accident, happened to be a private scholar transport, which was transporting the learners to school. The law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this sad incident," said Gauteng education spokesperson, Steve Mabona.
