Police to investigate case of culpable homicide following the deaths of 2 pedestrians in Soweto

JOHANNESBURG - Police will investigate a case of culpable homicide following the deaths of two pedestrians in Soweto on Monday morning.
The pedestrians were hit by a Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) vehicle after it collided with another car near Machaba Drive.
At the time, JMPD officers were responding to an incident where a road had been blocked off by aggrieved members of the Nancefield Dube West Taxi Association (NANDUWE).
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said that cases of culpable homicide had been opened and woud be investigated by SAPS.
"A total of seven individuals were involved in the accident and this is including the two JMPD officers in their vehicle, the two occupants of the other vehicle and three pedestrians. Unfortunately, two pedestrians lost their lives. A male pedestrian was declared deceased on the scene and a female pedestrian succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at the hospital."
