SALDANHA BAY - A co-accused in the trial related to missing girl, Joshlin Smith, insists he did not see the child on the day she went missing.

Joshlin's mother, Kelly Smith, Jacquen Appollis and Stevano van Rhyn are accused of allegedly selling the little girl to an unknown woman in Saldanha Bay.

The trial continued on Monday in the Western Cape High Court sitting at the Saldanha Bay Multi-Purpose Centre.

Child protection detective, Refilwe Sekhobe, wrapped up her testimony after telling the court about her interview with co-accused, Stevano van Rhyn.

Sekhobe told the court that she took Van Rhyn's statement at Saldanha Bay Police Station on 29 February.

Sekhobe said that Van Rhyn admitted he was at Kelly Smith's shack on 19 February and witnessed the child leave with Lourentia Lombaard, a former accused who has since turned State witness.

Van Rhyn's lawyer disputed this, saying that Van Rhyn was never inside the shack and insists he did not see Joshlin that day.

The trial continues.
