Three weeks after heavy rains devastated parts of North West, hope is dwindling for residents of Klipvoor village, who remain stranded due to the collapse of the only bridge connecting them to the outside world. The flooding has destroyed crops, killed livestock, and left the community isolated, with children unable to attend school and the elderly unable to access medical care.

The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) in the Western Cape has accused City of Cape Town traffic officers of targeting Black minibus taxi drivers after two videos surfaced showing the use of force to apprehend drivers. Tensions escalated in the Middelpos community of Saldanha Bay on Thursday as Kelly Smith, the mother of missing six-year-old Joshlin Smith, along with her two co-accused, Jacquen Appollis and Stevano van Rhyn, walked through the area during an inspection in loco. The group, accompanied by court officials, visited key locations connected to Joshlin's disappearance.

The case of alleged July unrest instigator Bonginkosi Khanyile has been postponed to next week, for a pre-trial hearing. Khanyile, who is charged with incitement to public violence linked to the July 2021 unrest, returned to the Durban Magistrates Court on Thursday.
