JOHANNESBURG - The temporary closure of a bridge over the Jukskei River in Johannesburg has sparked concerns among locals that businesses in the area will suffer.
This week's storms caused the river to overflow, damaging the frequently used bridge and leading to the closure of others nearby.
Emergency services rescued a motorist after he got stuck during heavy rains two days ago.
Community policing forum (CPF)’s Michael Tuck said the area has suffered extensive infrastructure damage.
“We have quite extensive damage throughout the sector - low-lying bridges, low-lying roads where the Jukskei had broken its banks and flooded various roads and streets throughout our sector and precinct.”
