JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has been briefed about the state of the city by the Johannesburg City Council on Thursday.
Ramaphosa is visiting the metro as it grapples with service-delivery related issues.
Joburgers have been calling on the metro to fix roads, sort out water and electricity outages, as well as traffic lights.
Mayor Dada Morero previously made a controversial statement, telling residents not to expect too much from him in his role.
Earlier this week, Morero faced backlash after announcing that the city would prioritize fixing traffic lights and potholes on routes used by international delegates attending the G20 summit.
Premier Panyaza Lesufi welcomed the president on Thursday morning.
“This visit will assist us to enhance the implementation of the three national priorities that we have repackaged it as part of our priorities in our province.
These are one, to drive the inclusive growth and job creation, two, reduce poverty and tackle the high cost of living and three, build a capable, ethical developmental State.”
