CAPE TOWN - Six police officers attached to the Khayelitsha Detective Service are expected to appear at the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court on Thursday on fraud charges.
They are accused of defrauding the police service of R16,000 by allegedly submitting fraudulent financial claims for travelling allowance.
It's alleged that the members would inflate prices for accommodation while travelling to the Eastern Cape for an investigation in 2022 and pocket the rest.
Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said the members are also accused of sharing a room and requesting two separate receipts.
"One of the members also faces a charge of defeating the administration of justice on another Khayelitsha case, after he failed to arrange the travel and accommodation arrangements for a witness in a pending murder case."
