State continues to question Modack over alleged connections to car dealership

CAPE TOWN - Alleged underworld gang boss, Nafiz Modack will return to the hot seat at the Western Cape High Court where the state will continue questioning his connection to Empire Investment cars.

The company was previously owned by Modack's brother in 2018, before accused number 14 Adiel Mukadam took over a year later.

The state has shown how sums of money were paid to Modack's wife and sister, amounts Modack claims were all above board.

State prosecutor Greg Wolmarans and Modack exchanged words when Wolmarans claimed that the payments made from the luxury car company did not give an accurate reflection of what the payments on the financial statement were actually for.

The state alleges that the company was used for racketeering.

The state also alleged that Modack was not simply a salesperson for the company as he claimed, but actually controlled the company, using his brother and accused 14 as a ploy.

Modack and his 14 co-accused face 122 charges for various crimes including murder, extortion and fraud.

The trial continues on Thursday.
