The case dates back to March 2024, when the officers allegedly extorted R120,000 from a Congolese national visiting South Africa for business.
The victim, who had a lump sum of money in his home, was reportedly held for hours while the officers demanded to verify his passport and permit, as well as his legal status in the country.
Five male officers and one female officer have been charged and are currently detained at the Boksburg Police Station.
