JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) has rubbished suggestions of a hidden motive behind its decision to rotate the deployment of its national executive committee (NEC) members.

It said these are attempts to create a false narrative of divisions in the party where they do not exist.

The party further said distorted media reports on such decisions mislead the public and sow discord.

The ANC has been unable to quell rumours that many of its leaders are operating with its 2027 national conference in mind.

This is also why, when it makes changes to its national structures and deployments, they are met with speculation that it is to serve the succession ambitions of some in the party.

However, the ANC has rubbished these claims, saying the rotation of NEC members is aimed at ensuring effective leadership and oversight.

Some key changes that have been made recently include moving Zizi Kodwa as KwaZulu-Natal’s convener to Northern Cape, with his position replaced by Dickson Masemola.

Khumbudzo Ntshavheni takes over from Pemmy Majodina to become the convener of deployees in Gauteng.

The most notable appointment is Zuko Godlimpi - the youngest member of the NEC and deputy minister in the executive. He is the new economic transformation committee’s chairperson.
