JOHANNESBURG - It emerged that private security officers killed by police during an alleged shootout in the Eastern Cape were transporting extortion kingpin, Yanga ‘Bara’ Nyalara.
On the 20th of February, the SAPS National Intervention Unit killed seven people in Butterworth including Nyalara who is notorious for terrorising businesses in Khayelitsha Cape Town.

Four of the seven people killed were security guards from KZN VIP Protection Services which is now demanding answers for its slain members.
Owner of KZN VIP Protection Services Glen Naidoo says the company was approached by Yanga Nyalara to escort him around the Eastern Cape.
As company protocol, Naidoo says they did a background check on Nyalara before accepting the job.
“We did a security clearance check on him and it came out negative, yes there was a case pending against him but since he wasn’t found guilty, we didn’t bother about it much.”
Nyalara, along with his two companions and four KZN VIPsecurity guards were all killed by officers.
Police watchdog, IPID, is currently investigating the matter.
