JOHANNESBURG - The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party’s first ever ward councillor, Thabiso Molefe, has come out in support of expelled former Mpumalanga leader, Mary Phadi.
In a now-deleted video posted on social media platform TikTok, the Rustenburg ward councillor accused MK Party secretary general Floyd Shivambu of destroying the party.
This weekend, the MK Party expelled Phadi, saying she violated the party’s constitution.
Molefe joins Duduzile Zuma as the latest MK Party member to publicly criticise the organisation’s secretary general.
Molefe said Shivambu was destroying the organisation by removing people who were in the party long before he joined from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
“Comrade Floyd, I am going to say the way comrade Dudu said to you, I am not afraid, I will never be afraid and I will still never be afraid of you.”
In the seven-minute video, Molefe said Shivambu is acting like the MK Party belongs to him.
“No one from uMkhonto weSizwe is going to expel me after I do this video, no one will do anything to me.”
The MK Party has not responded to questions from Eyewitness News regarding this matter.
