CAPE TOWN - The state's second witness in the trial of Kelly Smith and others has corroborated the testimony of his colleague, a police constable who was the first to respond to Joshlin Smith’s disappearance
Kelly Smith, Jacquen Appollis and Stevan van Rhyn are charged with kidnapping and human trafficking related to the little girl's disappearance.
The accused have pleaded not guilty.
Constable Luzuko Nkubeka took the stand on Tuesday to testify about what he witnessed on the day Joshlin Smith disappeared.
Nkubeka, who was the driver with constable Yanga Gongotha, the state's first witness, told the court the same story his colleague relayed on Monday.
Both constables said Smith did not behave like a mother who had lost a child when they interviewed her.
He said Smith told them she had left Joshlin with her boyfriend and gone to work, but when she got home, they were both missing.
Nkubeka told the court Smith seemed to become tearfully happy when they found co-accused Appollis later that night, but asked no questions about Soshlin.

Meanwhile, Kelly Smith’s lawyer today tried to show the state’s first witness lied in his testimony.
Her defence attorney, Rinesh Sivnarain told Gongotha that his testimony is flawed.
Gongotha on Monday told the court that Smith was with another woman when she flagged him down in Middelpos, to tell him Joshlin was missing.
Sivnarain told Gongotha Smith said she was with two other women at the time.
He also disputed Gongotha's version that Smith was at a party, saying she was at the home of a little boy she believed was seen with Joshlin.
