JOHANNESBURG - The man arrested in connection with the alleged torture of customers at Zanzou nightclub, in Hatfield, will return to the Pretoria Magistrates Court for a formal bail application on Monday.
The 41-year-old's identity cannot be revealed at this stage due to uncertainty on the successful conclusion of an identity parade.
He worked as a bouncer at Zanzou and faces six assault charges and eight additional charges of compelled sexual assault.
Moreover, the accused is one of eight men sought by the police about the torture of patrons at the nightclub.
Last month, several videos surfaced on social media showing bouncers at Zanzou physically and sexually assaulting a group of young men.
During his first court appearance last week, he made startling claims, including alleging that police assaulted him while in custody.
His legal team informed the court that when he was taken for medical treatment following the alleged assault, he was denied care because his bruises were not visible.
It was also revealed in court that the 41-year-old suspect has a prior conviction for shoplifting, which his lawyers told the magistrate was nothing to worry about.
He is currently the only suspect arrested in connection with the assault of patrons at Zanzou.
