CAPE TOWN - Hundreds of people from different backgrounds took to the streets on Saturday to celebrate love at the Pride Parade.

Members of the community held the Pride flag high as they made their way down to Greenpoint Park A-Track.

Bands beating on drums and Scottish bagpipes could be heard as the parade made its way down the city streets.

EWN asked parade goers what the event meant to them.

"We can be together; we can be divided into so many ethnicities or races or gender identities but actually we are all one and we can celebrate humanity and just existing and this is what we're doing and were doing glamorously and fabulously.”

"What it means to be here today it clearly means that love is love, you know we shouldn't judge whichever gender you are, always respect each other and believe in diversity.”
