JOHANNESBURG - Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has acknowledged that there’s a shortage of courts in the country.
She also pointed out that the department hasn’t built any new courts over the last few years.
Kubayi was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of Human Rights Month in Soweto on Friday.
She added that this will have an impact on the administration of justice.
“The last five years, we've not built a single court. That is a problem for me. We've got to be able to build more courts because that's why you have a backlog, that's why you have people traveling long distances to go to courts. We must have our services accessible.”
