Ntshavheni: AfriForum and Solidarity must take up Trump's offer and stop peddling lies about SA

Minister Khumbudzo Ntshavheni said that if the organisations weren’t happy with South Africa’s position to redress the injustices of the past, they could seek refuge in the US and take up Trump's offer.

CAPE TOWN - Minister Khumbudzo Ntshavheni said that lobby group AfriForum and the Solidarity Movement were "peddling lies" about the country in the US.

She said that the organisations should also take up President Donald Trump's offer of asylum.

Ntshavheni was addressing a post-Cabinet briefing on Thursday where she reiterated the government’s condemnation of AfriForum.

This comes after the group again approached the US government to take action against South Africa, claiming that Afrikaners were being persecuted.

Minister Ntshavheni told the post-Cabinet briefing that she also doesn’t understand why the AfriForum and Solidarity continued to peddle lies about the country to a foreign government.

She said that if the organisations weren’t happy with South Africa’s position to redress the injustices of the past, they could seek refuge in the US and take up Trump's offer.

"So those who don’t like what’s happening in South Africa, there’s an offer and we must emphasise it’s not all Afrikaners, it’s not all white people. So there’s an offer and they must take that offer and stop peddling lies."

But Ntshavheni said she appreciated how a majority of South Africans, including the media, acknowledged that what was being said about the Expropriation Act was not true and is not in line with the South African Constitution.
